Years of sun exposure, or just many years in general, will eventually cause sagging eyelids, excess folds of skin above and around the eyes, as well as pouches or discolored "bags" underneath the eyes. The appearance of the eye area can be improved surgically by undergoing eyelid surgery in San Diego, Del Mar or Temecula.
Surgical reconstruction of the surrounding eye tissues, blepharoplasty, comes in two kinds: upper and lower eyelid surgery. The process entails removal of excess skin and fat above and below the eyes, and careful, artistic, and strategic suturing to make sure the delicate skin around the eyes hides the scars effectively. The outcome is a more youthful appearance, which many of our San Diego / Del Mar eyelid surgery patients call the "rested look." Case Studies in the Before and After Slideshow
Case 1: This female patient desired to look younger and definitely less "tired." She felt that her eyes made her entire face look older. She underwent an upper and lower lid "eye-lift" or blepharoplasty, as well as a brow-lift procedure (and a mole removal). The right (after) picture is a one-year follow-up.
Case 2: Like many in this age group, this 43-year-old San Diego / Temecula eyelid surgery patient wanted to "look less tired." He underwent an upper and lower lid blepharoplasty and endoscopic browlift (not shown here). The lower lids were done without an external scar (transconjunctival approach). The after photo is a 6 month follow up and he reports that his co workers tell him he looks more "rested." One of the keys to this operation in males is to avoid feminizing their look with the additional lid lifting from the browlift.
Case 3: This 43 year old persian wanted her eyes to look better. Her upper and lower eyelids were done in about an hour and half and her recovery took about 1 week. This is a 1 year follow up.
Case 4: This 53-year-old eyelid surgery San Diego / Del Mar patient felt her eyes made her look "tired and old". She had an endoscopic brow lift, and an upper and lower lid blepharoplasty. This is a year follow up. As always the goal is to look natural and not "surprised".
Case 5: This patient wanted the very heavy line between her eyebrows softer and her eyes looking "refreshed". The procedure, a browlift, and upper and lower blepharoplasty, took about 2 hours and this is a six month follow up. The line, when it is that deep, is hard to completely take away even with cutting the muscles that caused it.
Case 6: This 57 year old just wanted a little improvement in her eyelids, this is a 6 week follow up.
Case 7: This patient has a very difficult eyelid aging process to correct. The lower lids required not only removal of fat and skin but also a lid tightening procedure to rejuvenate the eyes. The heavy upper lids were done at the same time. She has a nice, pleasing outcome and looks very natural.
