Breast Augmentation in Temecula

Many women are dissatisfied with the appearance of their naturally small breasts or the way their breasts have changed over time and after having children. Breast augmentation enhances breast volume and shape with the use of either saline or silicone-filled implants. These implants can correct breast asymmetry and shape concerns as well as enhance a woman’s self-confidence and sense of femininity. Dr. Batra of Coastal Plastic Surgeons in Temecula customizes breast augmentation surgery to provide women with natural-looking, balanced breasts to enhance body proportions and increase self-image.

Who Can Benefit From Breast Augmentation?

NaturallySmall Breasts

Some women experience dissatisfaction and confidence-related insecurities because of the naturally small size of their breasts. Breast augmentation enhances the size, shape, and fullness of the breasts to improve confidence and body image. Women with naturally small breasts can wear the clothing they want and feel confident doing so.

UndesirableBreast Changes

A woman’s breasts change in size, shape, and fullness over time due to the aging process and in response to situations like weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. The loss of breast volume results in a “deflated” breast appearance, which in turn can be detrimental to self-confidence and quality of life. Breast augmentation enhances the fullness of your breasts to restore a youthful body contour with firmer and perkier breasts.

Asymmetry& Shape Concerns

Most women’s breasts have some degree of breast asymmetry. Fortunately, this asymmetry often cannot be seen by the naked eye. For some women, however, breast asymmetry is noticeable and leads to physical insecurities. Breast augmentation can enhance the size, shape, and volume of one or both breasts to restore the appearance of symmetrical breasts. Breast augmentation can also be beneficial for women whose breasts are flat, pendulous, or irregularly shaped.

Customizing Your Temecula Breast Augmentation

Implant Type

Both saline and silicone implants are offered at Coastal Plastic Surgeons in Temecula. While one of these implant types is not better or longer lasting than the other, they do provide different aesthetic results.

Saline
  • Sterile saltwater fills a silicone shell
  • Allows for customized sizing and shaping
  • Produces a firmer, more augmented look
Silicone
  • Silicone gel fills a silicone shell
  • Feels and looks more like the natural breast
  • Available in many shapes, sizes, and textures

Implant Placement

Placement of your breast implants will be based on personal preference as well as natural breast shape and the desired position of the breasts.

Submammary
  • Implants are placed above the chest muscles but below the fatty tissue
  • Produces the appearance of more cleavage
  • Ideal for women with smaller breasts and minimal skin laxity
  • Requires a shorter recovery period
Submuscular
  • Implants are placed under the pectoral muscles
  • Creates a natural look and feel
  • Ideal for women with minimal breast tissue
  • Adds extra support for women with breast ptosis (sagging)
  • Will not interfere with a mammogram

Incision Options

Breast augmentation is performed through one of three incision choices. Your incision options, however, may be limited depending on your implant choice.

Periareolar
  • Incisions are made around the dark portions of the areola
  • Breast scarring is hidden by the difference in skin color
  • Ideal for women wanting to reduce the size of their areolas
Inframammary
  • Incision made in the crease under the breasts
  • Scar is hidden in the breast fold
  • Appropriate for both saline and silicone implants
  • Most common technique
Transaxillary
  • Incision is made in the natural armpit crease
  • No visible scarring

Easing Your Concerns

Your recovery period will be influenced to some extent by the specifics of your breast augmentation. Care and recovery length will depend on the location of your incision as well as the placement of your implant. Dr. Batra will go over a detailed recovery guide during your consultation; he will discuss with you the specifics of your choices. Traditionally, patients return to work within one to two weeks of the procedure but should avoid any strenuous upper body movement or activity for at least six weeks. A compression bra will be worn for the entirety of your recovery period. This garment will help reduce swelling, promote blood circulation, and ensure that the shape of your breasts heals as expected. Depending on the rate of your recovery, Dr. Batra will inform you of when you can switch to a sports bra and when you can return to an underwire bra.
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia to ensure a painless procedure. Swelling, bruising, and incision-site pain are common during your recovery. Prescribed pain medication should remedy any discomfort you have, and all symptoms should subside within a few weeks.
Scarring forms at all incision sites. The location of the scars depends on the incision location you choose, and the extent of scarring depends on how you personally heal. Patients can help minimize scarring by keeping the incisions out of the sun and away from tension; all scarring will fade with time.
Several factors can cause the cost of your breast augmentation to differ; breast augmentation cost varies depending on your choice of implant and techniques used as well as anesthesia fees, surgical fees, physician’s fees, and location. A detailed price quote will be given at your consultation with Dr. Batra.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coastal Plastic Surgeons offers the most advanced breast augmentation treatment options and will help you through your implant choices. Ultimately, the choice of your implant is up to you. In choosing your implant, we suggest that you consider your natural body frame as well as your lifestyle. During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to try out different implants to see how they feel and if they match with your initial expectations.
Ideal candidates for breast augmentation are in good general health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations of their results. Women undergoing this procedure experience dissatisfaction with:
  • Naturally small breasts
  • Deflated breasts
  • Asymmetrical breasts
  • Unusual breast shapes
Breast augmentation is a safe procedure that comes with minimal risks or complications, and any side-effects are temporary. While rare, breast implants may experience damage down the line in the way of:
  • Implant rupture
  • Capsular contracture
  • Bottoming out
You will experience bruising and swelling after your surgery that will initially mask your results. Your enhanced breasts will become visible over time as the swelling dissipates and the implants settle into their final location. This process typically takes around three months. At this time, your breasts will appear more shapely, full, and youthful. Breast implants traditionally last between 10 and 15 years before they need to be replaced. The presence of implants will not halt the natural aging process, and future breast sagging may occur. Should you find this bothersome, a subsequent breast lift can remedy this.
