Mommy Makeover Procedure
At Coastal Plastic Surgeons, we know that having children is a beautiful thing; we also know that the stresses on the female body can cause significant changes. Many women are distressed by their new abdomen and breasts, which are now so much harder to reform with diet and exercise. A healthy lifestyle is not enough to tighten the muscles and skin in the abdominal area that might give you back your pre-pregnancy shape.
Though weight loss is essential for anyone considering a mommy makeover, you may still be experiencing trouble targeting problem areas. That’s where we can help! Coastal Plastic Surgeons’ Dr. Batra loves to help women near San Diego and Temecula areas recover their pre-pregnancy bodies and restore their youthful and contoured body shape with confidence.
What happens to the female body during pregnancy?
The changes in the female body during pregnancy are triggered by hormones signaling physical and chemical adaptations that prepare the uterus for a fetus. The two most important hormones causing these changes to occur are estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen is always present within the female body as the primary female hormone, but progesterone is only produced once pregnancy is detected.
Pregnancy Hormones Induce Physical Changes
Estrogen works to promote blood circulation and nutrients that supply the uterus for the nine-month gestation period. Enlargement of the breasts and the production of milk is also a reaction to increased levels of estrogen. Progesterone helps increase the size of the uterus, helping to create laxity within the muscles, ligaments and skin surrounding the abdominal area and make space for the new baby.
These changes happen over a period of 42 weeks from conception to birth. The female body is fascinating in its ability to adapt to the occupation of another human being, but these changes can be difficult to manage once pregnancy is over. If you’ve undergone multiple pregnancies and are ready to get back to your youthful body shape before pregnancy, the mommy makeover is for you!
What does a mommy makeover include?
The mommy makeover is the combination of a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and breast augmentation (mammaplasty), with or without a lift, and can help bring a woman’s figure back to their pre-pregnancy state. The procedure is often combined with liposuction in the thighs, arms or other areas as well. Every mommy makeover procedure is a custom-tailored combination of procedures that addresses all areas of the body that have become lax, bare stretch marks and have gained extra pockets of stubborn fat.
Breast augmentation during the mommy makeover procedure involves reshaping and volumizing the breasts. Should you feel you need an additional lift, a breast lift is added to the procedure. Breast augmentation helps restore volume to sagging breasts and reduce the size of the post-partum areola. Dr. Batra will go over all breast augmentation options with you and help you decide which procedures are best based on the desired look of your breasts. The tummy tuck portion of the mommy makeover procedure will help reconstruct and tighten loose abdominal muscles, reshape the waistline, create contoured flank areas and proportion the breast to waist-size ratio. Depending on your consultation with Dr. Batra, this procedure can be performed at the same time as your breast augmentation.
Liposuction and skin tightening complete the mommy makeover. Dr. Batra is the pioneer of the post gastric bypass procedure for excess skin, GBRx, and applies these same artistic techniques to remove excess skin caused by weight gain and pregnancy to his mommy makeover procedures. Dr. Batra is a master of body contouring and will reshape your body naturally, making you look and feel amazing.
How long does the procedure take?
The combination of procedures can range from three to five hours, and an overnight stay is recommended. Depending on your consultation with Dr. Batra, your procedure time may vary if tummy tuck, breast augmentation and liposuction are done in multiple visits or all at once.
How long is the recovery?
The recovery process takes about two weeks to begin driving and doing normal household activities, and up to six weeks to run and do any high-impact exercising. During your consultation, Dr. Batra will discuss your unique recovery time with you. To see optimal results, it’s best to stick to this recovery plan to avoid any injury after your mommy makeover procedure.
Dr. Batra does over 100 of these combined procedures annually and has seen stunning results in youthful body shape and the confidence of his patients. Check out these amazing before and after pictures and find out why we were voted San Diego’s Top Plastic Surgeons.
